Eligibility in detail
A bachelor's degree from a recognised university is enough for most posts in the APPSC Group-I Recruitment 2026. The one exception is DSP (Communications), which needs a B.E./B.Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication or Radio Engineering. Police posts also carry physical standards, such as minimum height and chest measurements, which are listed post by post in the notification. Age is counted on 1 July 2026: the general range is 18 to 44 years, but some posts have a lower band (21–30 or 18–30), so check your post's row in the vacancy table.
Selection process
Selection has three stages. The Screening Test has two objective papers, answered on OMR sheets, and is only for shortlisting: about 50 candidates per vacancy go on to the Main examination. The Main examination is descriptive, and the final merit list combines the Main marks with an interview (personality test). Each wrong answer in the Screening Test costs one-third of that question's marks.
Important points
- The last date was extended to 9 November 2026 by a web note dated 27 October 2026, and the Commission says there will be no further extension. The Screening Test date of 24 January 2027 is unchanged.
