1 Application Process Overview


  1. Register via SSC’s One-Time Registration (OTR) portal.

Tier I Syllabus

1. General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • Verbal and non-verbal reasoning: analogies, coding-decoding, blood relations, statements and conclusions, syllogisms, number/figure series, puzzles, directions, etc.

2. General Awareness
  • Current affairs (national & international), static GK: History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Science & Technology, Books & Authors, Sports, Government schemes, important events/days .

3. Quantitative Aptitude
  • Basic maths up to Class 10: Number Systems, Percentages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Ratio-Proportion, Simple & Compound Interest, Algebra, Geometry & Mensuration (triangles, circles, etc.), Trigonometry (height & distance), Statistics & Probability, Data Interpretation (charts).

4. English Comprehension
  • Reading comprehension, grammar (error spotting, sentence improvement), vocabulary (synonyms/antonyms, one-word substitutes), fill-in-blanks, cloze tests, sentence rearrangement, active/passive voice, direct/indirect speech, idioms & phrases .


Tier II Syllabus – Paper I

Mathematical Abilities (Quantitative)
  • Advanced arithmetic (algebra, geometry, trigonometry), data interpretation, mensuration, probability, statistics, DI charts, etc.

General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • Complex puzzles & logical problems, figurative reasoning, verbal discussions, etc.

English Language
  • Advanced grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, editing, fillers, etc.

General Awareness
  • In-depth coverage of the same areas listed in Tier I, with focus on government-related policies and current affairs .

Computer Knowledge + DEST
  • Basics: hardware, software, MS Office, Internet/email, networking, cyber security; typing speed test to assess data entry skills


Tier II – Paper II & III (For Specialized Posts)

Paper II – Statistics (JSO/SI only)
  • Descriptive & inferential statistics, probability distributions, sampling, regression, correlation, index numbers, time series, statistical inference

Paper III – Finance & Economics (AAO/AHO only)
